Angelic Interludes
Dieux du Stade
It's a great video, considered that the models are professional athletes, even if of a lesser considered sport in France. The video in itself is of a better quality compared to the previous ones. The rugby players appear to be extremely comfortable in front of the camera. In part this might be due to acquired experience, but also because French guys (as men of some other European countries) live nakedness and nudity in a very different way than American athletes do. Well, here there are truly delicious specimens of masculine beauty. Some athletes show a bit more, while others have the tendency to partially cover their genitals. They know they are beautiful, sexy, and coveted. I recommend this video to anyone who has a marked sense of aesthetics, and attraction/interest in the male body as well as men with other men, or let's say the male bond. Of course this video can be watched and interpreted with many different types of spectacles, and probably fantasies as well as the guys do not really disclose much of themselves. In many ways, this video is a remarkable work of art, and the athletes have patiently done a great job!! Read More...
The Houseboy
What they don't know is that Ricky overheard one of them lament that he wanted a "new toy" for Christmas, which devastated the young man, who had recently become estranged from his family after coming out to them. Already depressed by being alone during the holidays, and devastated at the thought of being tossed aside by the couple he thought loved him, he plans to commit suicide in their home on Christmas Eve, so that they will discover him when they return. In the meantime, he hooks up with anonymous tricks he meets on the internet, agrees to go home with a kindly older man, and has a couple of dangerous liaisons with a rough-trade hood he met in a park. The one bright spot of his week is meeting Blake (Blake Young-Fountain), a guy his own age who seems genuinely friendly and real, but is put off by Ricky's premature push toward intimacy. Damon and Hunter: Doing It Together (Real People, Real Life, Real Sex series)
Tony Comstock is the creator and master of a new genre of films: explicit couples' sexuality documentaries. Comstock states that "intent to arouse" is often cited as the dividing line between art and porn. Of all the emotions a director might hope to induce in an audience, arousal remains the last taboo, and Tony Comstock takes it head-on.
I bought all of Comstock's collection at the urgings of the editorial team over at the Feddy & Eddy website. Comstock is a genius, and Damon and Hunter is my hands-down favorite of all his titles. For reference, his other titles include Marie and Jack (Comstock's first film, with married pornographic actors), Xana and Dax (an experienced NY blonde and her younger Brazilian lover), Matt & Khym (a 30-something married couple), and Ashley & Kisha (a lesbian couple). Damon and Hunter is the story of two gay male lovers, and I encourage viewers of any sexual orientation to pick this one up. I'm a heterosexual female and I can assure you that both my partner and I enjoyed this one. Read More...
Erotic Touch
My copy was so dark it was difficult to see if there were even people in the scene and no way to tell what they were really doing. I believe it may have been made with someones home camera?? Dark and mostly black and burgandy colors.
A total dissapointment in all areas. The performers weren't exactly talented either. Is there anything less than a one star??? Read More...
Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds
Don't expect great filmmaking; it's obviously a low-budget farce, and works well on that level. Based strictly on the story and direction, I'd give it only three stars, but it gets an extra star for being great fun and providing some dazzling eye candy! Read More...
Socket
Tired of AIDS, coming of age, that first relationship, and campy fabulousness being the only subjects of queer cinema? Ready for a gay film where the sexual orientation of the characters is treated in a matter-of-fact manner and secondary to the actual storytelling? Do you like good ole fashioned sci-fi/horror genre entertainment? Then Socket is a movie you'll want to check out.
I managed to catch this at the LA G&L film festival last year, and I have to say it was a breath of fresh year. I'm gay, but I'm also a true blue geek who loves good sci-fi and horror movies. And let's face it, it's not like anyone is trampling over themselves to make movies for gay geeks. So to discover Socket, with it's quirky premise, solid writing, and great performances, that just also happened to have some super steamy sex scenes thrown in, was truly a nice surprise. I'm glad to see that the film secured a distributor so that more people will be able to see it - and I hope that it's a big success so that more movies like it will get made in the future. Nine Lives
The Lair: Complete First Season
The Lair is a private gay club run by vampires, which use the club as a source for attractive young men to feed from. Thom (David Moretti), a local journalist in the small island town begins digging into the anonymous bodies turning up drained of blood, endangering his boyfriend and coming to the attention of the head vampire, Damian (Peter Stickles), who sees Thom as the reincarnation of his own dead lover. The Lair is an original series, from US specialty channel Here! TV with a first season of six 30-minute episodes. With similarities to Here! TV's "Dante's Cove" focusing on hot guys and the occult, "The Lair" is pure fantasy escapism and will definitely do more than merely entertain it's target audience! All World's Video fans will be pleased to see Brad Benton (a.k.a. Dylan Vox) in the role of Colin, as well as hunky Colton Ford as Sheriff Trout. Fans of "Dante's Cove" are encouraged to join me as I'll be pleased to add this guilty pleasure to my "Dante's Cove" Season 1 and Season 2 sets, and hopefully there'll soon be a release of "The Lair: Season 2," however the final episode gives no indication of the series continuing at all. I would have preferred "The Lair" to have been 1 hour episodes with more quality time and character developement spent on this creative show. It could've been as good as "Dante's Cove" if not even better! Still, Hot Stuff! Read More...
Three
This DVD is an anomoly in so many ways that it may be worthy of attention from folks who would be interested in more than its softcore porn-y aspects.
While from a production standpoint, this DVD belongs to the family of British-originated (or British-market targeted) erotica, meaning that there are significant restrictions on what can be shown on-screen (i.e., no penetration, etc.), a fact that cute blonde model Kris alludes to during a scene featuring him in the shower.
However, this particular video is more than the watered-down "Bel Ami" video or "naked sports" fare that one traditionally expects due to its unusual genesis. This DVD is in fact an extension on the hugely popular "coffe table" book of photographs of the same name ("Three") by Howard Roffman. The original book of photographs purportedly documents moments in the life of an all-male "permanent menage a trois," in a fashion that largely idealizes the relationship among the participants. Both the book and the video therefore trade not only on the attractiveness of the stars, but also on the voyeuristic tendencies that makes "reality TV" so intruiging to viewers.
Unlike most of the DVDs in this genre that present fictional or highly fictionalized plots, "Three" the DVD is a modestly insightful documentary, connecting the dots for viewers (somewhat predictably, alas) and shedding additional light on the nature of the relationship shared by the film's subjects that was first presented in the book.
Roffman himself becomes a fourth chracter in this drama, acting as the cameraman and interviewer. Unlike most documentarians, Roffman is not an uninvolved third party; indeed, the origin of the relationship being documented is credited to the photographer, who actually introduced the three guys to each other. Amnesia: The James Brighton Enigma
The first thing that the young man eventually remembers is what he believes his name to be: James Brighton. He remembers other isolated things, such as some music he likes, expresses a familiarity with television broadcasting equipment, and easily picked up French as a second language when sent to a class. But he still claims not to remember where he is from, or how he got to that parking lot in Montreal. He is diagnosed with a rare type of amnesia, likely associated with a severe mental or emotional shock of some kind, but all therapies fail in trying to find out more. He turns for help to a staffer from the local gay helpline, as well as a doctoral student who has taken an interest in his case. He appears on a tabloid TV show broadcast throughout the United States, hoping that will provide leads as to who he really might be. When some calls come in, they suggest that James isn't who he claims to be at all, and perhaps faked his amnesia in order to force a new start away from legal problems in the US. What is likely his real life comes back to him gradually, in flashbacks, but we are never quite sure if that is the truth either.
An interesting approach to an amnesia story, with kind of a Lifetime / Movie of the Week vibe, though the acting is a bit better than that genre. The writer puts an interesting hook on the old "I am so much more than just a gay man"-tirade by introducing us to someone who doesn't know anything about himself *except* that he is a gay man, and raising related issues of how important identity is to one's wellbeing. The Trip
The film, "The Trip", is a wonderfully told love story with a sense of humor, that just about anyone who has ever been in love can relate to. The story itself is fairly basic; the struggle with coming to terms with ones sexuality, first love, and how life can change us. However, it is how the story is presented with a balance of diverse characters, entertaining dialogue and timeless themes of love and emotion that make the film extremely entertaining. The characters are well written for their roles in the story, nicely developed and represented. Gay or straight, just about everyone can relate to this film on one level or another. The witty dialogue keeps the films' pace brisk and fun to follow. But, the gem of this film is its comedic presentation of the period in which the story takes place (70's and 80's). From the clothes to the hairstyles, the film gives us a hilarious reminder of the way we were. Everything about this film is just the way it should be; an intriguing story woven together with outstanding acting and masterful direction. Jill ST. John, who plays "Mary" has never been better. She plays a great character and it's obvious she's having a good time. This film will be a part of my DVD library for years to come and I anxiously await Miles Swain's next film! Read More...
